The operation to pull 33 miners entombed nearly half a mile underground to the surface through a newly-drilled shaft is expected to begin on Tuesday Oct 12.
A single ringing bell and a roar of delight from exhausted rescue workers signalled the moment yesterday, when a 2,067ft shaft broke through to the 33 Chilean miners who have been trapped for 66 days.
There was jubilation among their families at Camp Hope, the makeshift village near the minehead in the Atacama Desert where they have kept vigil.
And the first word from the ecstatic miners to rescuers was: ‘What the hell took you so long?’
Mother's water broke after 66 days of miners being trapped
Mother Earth will soon birth "The 33"... After 66 days of being captive, her water broke exactly 33 days after grilling. Hopefully soon they will emerge... "blinded" truly as a newborn baby who goes through the birth canal...from the dark into the Light.
